Breeder or Sucker: The Play

2019

A scripted performance following art students through exhibition openings, relationships, drugs, art and sex. Using humour and a handmade cardboard-and-plaster set, the work satirises gendered power structures and behaviour within the art world.

Breeder or Sucker: The Play follows Charlotte and her friends through art openings, conversations about art, sex and power, and a series of sexual encounters.

The performers use a written script inside cardboard and plaster sets. A separate trailer restaged the characters and scenery in the studio as the work's documentation.
