Charlotte Gash attempting a whoopie-cushion world record in front of an audience.

THIS, BUT WITH DICKS

2018

Performance / Print

At the Women of the World Festival at London’s Southbank Centre, I set the world record for bursting the most whoopie cushions by sitting on them in 30 seconds, a record previously held only by men. Documentation of the performance later became a viral meme. A work responding to the online reaction to my world-record performance, after a viral meme generated thousands of sexualised comments about my body.

Performers staging DONDA inside a timber barn at Boalt residency.

DONDA (Little Eddie Investigates)

2021

Musical performance — 150 min

An absurd murder mystery set inside a chicken coop, following Little Eddie as she investigates the killing of another hen. Inspired by cases of violence against women, the musical uses humour and absurdity to examine misogyny, institutional power, fear and friendship.

Handmade green and white bottles displayed on grass, with a handwritten label on the foreground bottle.

GAS AND GASH CERAMICS

2019

A working collage bar made with Charlotta Öberg from the artists, writers and musicians they admire.

A cardboard dress with bright green lettering displayed against a mirrored wall.

OHMAUGASH

2020

A collaborative performance and image world by Sigrid Mau and Charlotte Gash.
